The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a government-funded program designed to support people with disabilities to lead a more independent and fulfilling life. The NDIS provides funding and support for eligible individuals to access the services and equipment they need to live their life to the fullest.
The NDIS operates on the principle that people with disabilities should have the same opportunities as everyone else to participate in their community and achieve their goals. It is a person-centered program, meaning that individuals are in control of the services they receive and how they are delivered.
To be eligible for the NDIS, you must meet certain criteria. You must have a permanent and significant disability that affects your ability to participate in daily life activities, be under the age of 65, and be an Australian citizen or hold a permanent visa.
